At Allstate Transport, our usual service is door-to-door. However, we do provide terminal drop-off and pick-up for customers who request it.
A terminal is a regional storage facility, usually located in a central location. It can be useful for the auto shipping company to accumulate vehicles in this location for shipment to various final destinations. Thus auto transport companies, including ours, will offer terminal-to-terminal car shipping at discounted rates.
For the customer, there are pros and cons. If you need to drop off or pick up your car on a certain date, it can be held at a terminal until the carrier can pick it up. This may come in handy, for instance, for a vehicle waiting to be shipped to Alaska or Hawaii, when the final leg is by sea.
Terminal to Terminal Auto Transport
Terminal-to-terminal shipping may leave your vehicle in an outside lot for some number of days. It may lengthen your delivery time.
On the other hand, terminal-to-terminal may cost you less, and relieve the time pressure of having to pick up the vehicle by a certain date.
For some deliveries, terminal destinations are inescapable. If you live, for instance, in the heart of Manhattan it would be difficult for a carrier to deliver a vehicle to your door. Although we can attempt to find a large parking lot where we can unload the freight, sometimes a terminal is the best alternative.
If you think a terminal delivery is the way to go for you, discuss the situation with your agent. We can tell you what to expect in terms of time and charges, and answer any questions you may have.
Whether your vehicle goes door-to-door or terminal-to-terminal, you may still be sure that it is handled professionally, completed insured and protected by our certified team, and that we will deliver where and when we say we will.
